WRITING SKILLS

My students have the following difficulties to write texts:

The most common difficulties that my student have are lack of vocabulary and the use of correct grammar.

To write a text is a process so I need to teach strategies to my students in order they can write, for example: work in groups or pairs, give them feedback, listen their ideas, stimulate their background knowledge.

It is a good activity to brainstorm the topic: tell the students to organize their ideas in a mind map before to start to write a text.

Another activity is to show a picture with a lot of details to the students for some minutes and then you remove the picture from their sign then they have to write as much as they can remember.

To provide a rubric before to start the writing process is a good idea because it helps students to write their texts taking into consideration what is required on it and how they will be evaluated.
